After the series of projects that were recently opened at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in all its be configurations .. and its launch of the initiative of the Thousand Palm trees, the president of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq al-zuhairy, inaugurated a new site within the campus in Kufa with an area of approximately four thousand square meters after being qualified by the engineering and technical staff in the Departments of construction, projects and Diwan Affairs at the university presidency .
The project, which took about two months to complete, included lifting and replacing the soil, leveling and adjusting works, pouring concrete walkways, installing lampposts, planting palm and Thistle palm trees, equipping the site with terraces for students to sit and adopting a sprinkler irrigation system .
In an interview with the University media during the opening of the site, Al-zuhairy pointed out that the reconstruction campaign will continue according to the plans set by the University earlier, and the next stage will include focusing on specialized laboratories, model classrooms and increasing green spaces to achieve an attractive model sustainable university environment, pointing out that a number of these projects have been launched for a number of University formations spread within its geographical area .
On the other hand, Al-zuhairy called on all university formations to work to combat desertification by adopting the initiative announced earlier to expand the area of green areas and ensure the success of this initiative, which falls within the framework of the thirteenth Sustainable Development Goal related to climate .
The opening ceremony was attended by the university president’s assistants, a number of deans, department directors, associates and a group of students .
