The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, participated in the launch of the National Day of the Holy Qur’an activities, held from January 17th to January 22nd.
In his speech at the University of Baghdad, in the presence of the Prime Minister, representatives of state institutions, and heads of Iraqi universities and their councils, he emphasized that the responsibility of all, particularly universities, requires them to be a constant pillar in the awareness equation based on foundational principles and an integral part of the identity connected to the Holy Qur’an. Universities should contribute through their academic and scientific presence to protecting society and its generations, as well as preserving the achievements of its history, culture, present, and future.
He added that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, over the past two and a half years, has established a dedicated admission channel for students who are Qur’an memorization graduates and has reduced tuition fees for this group across various scientific and humanities disciplines. This initiative aims to honor the status of the Holy Qur’an and reinforce Iraq’s national stance in promoting a culture of moderation and countering incitement to violence and hatred worldwide.
