On the occasion of the launch of Entrepreneurship Week, under the slogan “From the Land of Mesopotamia, the Innovations of Our Creative Students Emerge,” the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy at the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Kufa, one of the institutions of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in collaboration with the Iraqi Scientific Society for Physiotherapy, organized a specialized course entitled “Principles and Applications of Kinesio Taping in Neuromuscular and Musculoskeletal Disorders (Spine, Upper and Lower Limbs).”

The course was delivered by Dr. Soheil Mansour Sohani, Associate Professor at an Iranian University and PhD holder in Physiotherapy, and was held over three days from February 10 to 12, 2026.

The academic program of the course focused on intensive training in:

  • The basic principles and history of the Kinesio Taping method.

  • The unique mechanical and physiological properties of the tapes.

  • Mastery of assessment skills and preparatory techniques.

  • Safe and effective application of basic and corrective Kinesio techniques.

  • Integration of taping within clinical reasoning processes.

  • Safe removal techniques and patient education.

The targeted participants of the course included students of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, as well as practicing physiotherapists.

This activity is part of the Entrepreneurship Week program, reflecting the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Kufa’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, enabling students to keep pace with scientific and technological developments, in alignment with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s strategic vision of investing in youth potential and building a sustainable knowledge-based economy.
