Under the slogan “From the Land of the Two Rivers, Our Creative Students’ Innovations Emerge,” and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies–Kufa, Professor Dr. Ingham Jassim Al-Rumahi, the Department of Optometry Technologies organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Business Model,” delivered by Consultant Engineer Adnan Kadhim Saad from the Directorate of Labor and Vocational Training in the governorate.

The seminar aimed to stimulate and activate a culture of entrepreneurship, invest in creative and innovative ideas, and build and develop capacities through community-oriented activities utilizing inclusive digital tools.

The seminar adopted the Department of Optometry Technologies as a model for embarking on the entrepreneurial journey, which begins with identifying Customer Segments—namely, the governorate’s residents, students, and employees seeking reliable services, as well as school pupils requiring early detection of visual impairment. It further addressed the identification of Value Propositions, emphasizing diagnostic accuracy ensured through examinations conducted under the supervision of specialized faculty members, offered at competitive prices and supported by modern equipment. The seminar also discussed service delivery channels, revenue streams, and the provision of comprehensive complementary services.

The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations, including the creation of self-employment opportunities for students, graduates, and job seekers; the development of the private sector; and the promotion of national products in a manner that fosters entrepreneurship across public, private, and joint sectors. It also emphasized the importance of investing in individual skills, expertise, and technology, as well as the optimal utilization of local natural and human resources.
