The President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, attended the memorial ceremony held by the Islamic University to remember the martyrs of mass graves and the martyrs of Iraq. This ceremony was held on the occasion of Mass Graves Day, which falls on March 16th of each year. In his speech during the ceremony, Al-Zubaidi emphasized that the mass graves represent an inevitable result of the repressive policies of the former regime, which lasted for nearly four decades and resulted in mass executions, as well as the use of chemical weapons, as occurred in the bombing of the city of Halabja. He called for the documentation of these crimes by international institutions and organizations to serve as a witness to what was committed against the Iraqi people. The ceremony was attended by a number of university presidents, religious and academic figures, and the director of the Martyrs Foundation in Najaf, who in turn emphasized the importance of remembering these crimes and the need to highlight them for future generations, in order to preserve the national memory.
