Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, chaired the Ph.D. dissertation defense committee at the Department of Economics, College of Administration and Economics, University of Al-Qadisiyah. The dissertation was entitled: “Trade Policies and Their Impact on the Dimensions of Sustainable Development: Selected International Experiences (Saudi Arabia and Algeria), with Special Reference to Iraq (2004–2023).”
The dissertation, presented by researcher Zainab Zammat Hamza, aimed to analyze the impact of trade policies on the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Algeria, with special reference to Iraq during the period 2004–2023. It also examined the extent to which these policies have influenced sustainable development indicators and their role in directing economic activity while achieving both internal and external economic balance.
The study employed descriptive, analytical, and comparative approaches, in addition to inductive and deductive methodologies. It analyzed trade policies, the development of foreign trade, the balance of payments, and sustainable development indicators in the countries under study to assess the effectiveness of these policies in promoting sustainable development.
The defense was attended by Professor Dr. Zaki Mohammed Abbas Bahiyah, Dean of Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, while Assistant Professor Dr. Haqi Amin Thomas, a faculty member of the same college, served as a member of the examination committee. The session featured an in-depth academic discussion between the committee members and the researcher, concluding with the approval of the dissertation after it had fulfilled all academic requirements, thereby reinforcing the university’s and the college’s academic and research standing
