As part of efforts to enhance academic and technical cooperation among Iraqi universities, Professor Dr. Hasan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, along with his accompanying delegation, visited Erbil Polytechnic University. They were received by Professor Dr. Idris Mohammed Tahir Herki, President of the University.
This visit falls within the framework of activating the Memorandum of Understanding previously signed between the two universities, which aims to exchange scientific expertise, develop educational programs, and promote joint scientific research.
During the visit, mechanisms for future cooperation were discussed, and an official agreement was reached to hold the 1st International Scientific Conference of the Al-Diwaniyah Technical Institute, in partnership with the Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute, the Najaf Technical Engineering College, and Erbil Polytechnic University. The conference is scheduled to be held in September 2025, under the title:
1st International Conference on Engineering-Science Nexus for Sustainable Development
The conference is expected to serve as a significant scientific platform for the exchange of solid research and innovative ideas in the fields of engineering, management, and medical technologies, with the participation of researchers from within Iraq and abroad.
Both parties emphasized the importance of continuing such collaborations to contribute to the advancement of technical education in Iraq and to enhance the competitiveness of technical universities in national and international rankings. Accompanying the University President on his visit were Professor Dr. Zaid Moan Hassan Al-Dulaimi, Dean of the Al-Diwaniyah Technical Institute, the Associate Dean, and a number of department heads from the university.
