The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the launch of the fourth edition of the “Study in Iraq” program for the 2026/2027 academic year, aimed at attracting international students to Iraqi universities.

During a press conference, the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hala Al-Askari, confirmed that the electronic “Study in Iraq” platform will be available for international students to apply for postgraduate programs starting today, May 4, 2026, until July, while applications for undergraduate programs will remain open until next September.

He explained that the ambition of the fourth edition for the 2026/2027 academic year is not limited to maintaining the level of enrollment achieved in previous years; rather, it seeks to further enhance academic and cultural diversity across seventy-eight public and private universities. This initiative aims to enrich the academic environment through international experiences that contribute to strengthening the quality of education and promoting intellectual openness.

The Minister of Education also praised the sustainability of this vital program, emphasizing that the internationalization agenda has long been—and continues to be—a cornerstone of the priorities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its institutions. It also serves as the guiding framework for institutional efforts that support the position of Iraqi universities within the international academic landscape and enhance the excellence of their scientific and research outputs.
