The President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, inaugurated the Diwaniyah Technical Institute Auditorium, which accommodates more than (700) people, and hosted the launch of the activities of the Suburban Run Festival for students of all university formations, which was organized by the Activities Division of the aforementioned institute in cooperation with the Student Activities Department in the University Presidency.
The festival, which was sponsored by the President of the University and supervised by the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Zaid Maan Al-Dulaimi, witnessed the attendance of a number of government officials and sports elites, in addition to the attendance both of Vice Presidents of the University and the Dean of the Samawah Technical Institute and a number of department directors in the University Presidency and the advanced staff and affiliates and students in the aforementioned institute, in addition to the officials of the activities divisions at the university and its formations, witnessed a review of the teams participating in the university’s colleges and institutes.
The festival was opened by reciting Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs, and listening to the national anthem.
For his part, the Dean of the Institute delivered a speech in which he welcomed the honorable guests and attendees and expressed his high thanks to the President of the University for his support for the reconstruction projects at the Institute, to provide a model university environment that is attractive and comfortable for our students, in addition to his support for sports activities and the development of various student hobbies that would develop students’ sports abilities. On the other hand, the Director of the Student Activities Department at the University Presidency stated that the students participating in the festival were from all university formations and the distance was five kilometers from the aforementioned institute. The results showed that the Najaf Technical Institute won first place, while the second place went to the Samawah Technical Institute, while the third place went to the Kufa Technical Institute. At the end of the festival, the honorable guests, the committees implementing the amphitheater, the supporting committees and a number of retired members were honored in appreciation of their academic career. The winning teams were also crowned with medals and the festival cup.
