As part of its earnest efforts to open up to universities in the Kurdistan Region and to enhance scientific and academic cooperation, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, visited Cihan University–Erbil with the aim of activating the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two universities and expanding horizons of scientific and academic partnership.
The University President was accompanied by a number of deans of the university’s colleges and institutes. They were received by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Dalawi, President of Cihan University; Professor Dr. Iyad Hazem, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs; Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Karim, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs; along with several related staff members.
The visit included the holding of official meetings during which the experience of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in introducing qualitative academic programs for the current year—designed to meet labor market needs—was reviewed. In addition, ways to activate the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and expand areas of joint cooperation between the two sides were discussed.
The University President also discussed future prospects for cooperation in the fields of expertise exchange, joint training, and the organization of international conferences, as well as the possibility of launching joint research programs that would contribute to transferring successful experiences to the environment and laboratories of technical universities.
At the conclusion of the visit, commemorative shields were exchanged and souvenir photographs were taken, affirming the depth of academic relations and the keenness of both parties to strengthen joint scientific cooperation in service of the higher education process in Iraq.
