It was no ordinary hall; it was a stage for eloquent words and powerful voices. Al-Musayyib Technical Polytechnic College, in cooperation with Karbala Technical Polytechnic College, hosted the Classical Arabic Poetry and Master of Ceremonies Festival, organized by the Student Activities Department at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University as part of its internal program, with broad participation from all university colleges and depa

The festival was held under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, supervised by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Malik Nima Hawas Al-Khazraji, and implemented by the Director of the Student Activities Department, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Jalil Al-Tamimi. The event evolved into a vibrant cultural gathering that brought together talent and competition.

The ceremony opened with a welcoming speech delivered by the College Dean, who welcomed the guests and emphasized that such events, rather than academic curricula alone, are what help shape creative and talented students. This was followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in tribute to the souls of our honorable martyrs, and the standing rendition of the Iraqi national anthem.

In his speech, Al-Khazraji stressed that student activities are not merely an extracurricular luxury; rather, they are the true platform for refining talents, developing literary and cultural abilities, and fostering a spirit of positive competition among the university’s colleges and departments. A student representative also delivered a speech expressing the passion of a generation seeking a platform through which to make its voice heard.

The program also featured an introductory film highlighting the academic environment at Al-Musayyib Technical Polytechnic College and showcasing its attractive educational facilities and academic atmosphere.

The real competition then began with the Classical Arabic Poetry and Master of Ceremonies competitions. Students took to the stage one after another, presenting their creative works and demonstrating their skills before a specialized judging panel, which evaluated their performances according to precise criteria that reflected the high level of student talent in both literary and media-related fields.

The results saw Al-Najaf Technical Polytechnic College secure first place in the Classical Arabic Poetry Competition, while Al-Musayyib Technical College claimed first place in the Master of Ceremonies Competition, amid enthusiastic applause and lively interaction from the audience.

At the conclusion of the festival, the College Dean honored the Director of the Student Activities Department and the heads of the relevant divisions across all university colleges and departments in recognition of their efforts in ensuring the success of the event. The participating students were also honored in appreciation of their contributions and creative performances.

This festival reaffirms that Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University does not graduate engineers and technical professionals alone; it also nurtures poets, eloquent speakers, and creative individuals who regard words as a meaningful message and a powerful responsibility.

The organization of this festival reflects Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s and its affiliated colleges’ commitment to supporting cultural and literary activities, developing students’ skills, and providing a university environment that encourages creativity and excellence. These efforts contribute to strengthening the presence of student activities and consolidating the values of cooperation and positive competition among university students.
